We have completed our study of Greek Mythology and will begin our final unit this year! Our focus for the final weeks is poetry. Students will receive a packet with instructions, examples, and formatting tips. The final product will be a Powerpoint poetry presentation. Each day we will introduce a few types of poems from all over the world. Be sure that you have completed the required poems each day. Your creativity will be tested at the end of the week as you will be creating your own god or goddess with unique powers or talents. Here's the plan for the week:

Your literature book will be provided to you, so you will not need to worry about bringing a text book. The end of the 4 1/2 week period will be next Tuesday. Although it is not required, I would highly recommend reviewing the CRCT flash cards on www.quizlet.com Monday and Tuesday nights. All classes will be shortened to 30 minutes and no homework will be assigned from Tuesday through Friday. Please be sure to bring two No. 2 pencils and a book to read in case you finish early. The rest of the week will be dedicated to a brief unit on Greek mythology. Here is our tentative schedule:

We have completed our research papers and will start the week with Renaissance Day! In order to be prepared for this, you will need to write down a few facts and highlights about your person on a notecard. You may also dress as the person whom you have been researching. Buying costumes is not necessary as you have been provided with ideas to create your own out of clothing you may already have at home. Your Renaissance "group" has decided on food items to bring for your group. Remember, you only need to bring food and/or supplies for your group. Here's the plan for the week:

This week we will be focusing strictly on drafting of our research paper. Last week students collected information about their famous Renaissance figure. We also completed drafting the introduction and began drafting the body of the paper. You must stay caught up with the drafting process this week in order to complete the paper by the due date. The due date for the final paper is this Monday, March 21st. Your Renaissance Research packet will be helpful. Here is the schedule for the week along with important information.

This will be an important week in Language Arts as we will begin our research on a famous figure from the Renaissance. It is crucial that you keep up with the required research during the week. Everyone will be working at a different pace, so the schedule is tentative. Remember when researching at home (if necessary), begin with Cobb Virtual Library because it cites the source for you. If you go outside of CVL, you must copy the URL and paste it into www.bibme.org .Below are a few items that may be helpful when researching along with the schedule for the week.
