It takes a lot a thought, concentration, and patience to complete the "dot" paintings, but the results are beautiful and unique.

Aboriginal art example of Pupunya Dot Painting - ask your student about the story in this painting.

They have also continued to use their self-portrait drawings to make Surrealistic portraits using magazines photos and their very creative imaginations.

Personal Flags

Jasper johns 6th grade students have created their own personal flags in the style of artist Jasper Johns. They will be on display in the hallways of the school. Each one is a collage of words and images that express the unique character of each student.

Self-Portraits

7th grade students have been learning how to draw self-portraits. Their first drawings were wonderful and displayed their skills of observation and shading.

We will use the same self-portrait to create a "Fractured Watercolor" and some other wild ideas where they will be able to express themselves through color, collage, and pattern.

Designs

8th grade has been learning  about the elements of art in the first 2 projects they've been working on.

The "Line Designs" look great. In this project they used only 5 colors(colored pencil) and a variety of lines creating value changes and patterns.

In the "Name Design" they will use the shapes of the letters of their first or last name to create a design concentrating on the relationship between positive and negative space. Using only 3 colors of markers, they will add interest and details with line patterns.
