Week of May 4

I handed out the study guide for our Caught Ya final test which will be Wednesday  5/13.The test requires knowing all definitions to be able to write sentences that connect with real life situations. Knowing the parts of speech is necessary on the grammar part  where sentences involve using the words as direct objects, predicate adjectives, etc. There will not be a word bank.

Journal #8 is due on Wednesday. The extra credit you may want to earn  by writing 15 or more sentence can be used on the final test.

I will take  all LA classes to the book fair on  Wednesday. You may want to bring money if you intend on purchasing any books.(Can't check books out of the library  for the rest of the year)

We will continue our unit on analyzing folktales. Then you will create your own next week.

Week of April 27

Conflict Diary -  Write 1 or more paragraphs of 8 sentences each day for 5 days . The days do not have to be consecutive. Each paragraph should contain 3 conflicts, each being a different type.(you may repeat types again in different paragraphs). Tell the specific type of conflict you are using.

Describe each conflict in detail and tell if it was solved on that day. It is ok if the conflict is not solved at all or is solved another day.

Vary your settings- school, home, after school activities such as a practice or game.

Do not procrastinate because you will not remember what happens on a certain day if you wait too long to write the entries.

This assignment is worth 50 points(quiz grade) -Each day counts for 10 points. You will earn 8 points for the conflict details and 2 points for  conventions. The diary is considered formal writing: no slang, or dead words. Do not use dialogue.

Due Friday, May 1

Reading- Comic strips were due  Friday. Monday and Tuesday - we will read chapters 12-14 then write  a summary for each chapter.  No library books can be checked out after May 1 but there will be a book fair that week. Keep that in mind for AR  or plan on going to the public library.
