Greetings Students and Parents,
Welcome to third nine-weeks of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade health! I anticipate a great nine-weeks full of learning about health and wellness. I look forward to meeting the 6th grade students and I welcome back the 7th and 8th grade students as we embark on the new nine-weeks.
Beginning the second day of health class, students should bring notebook paper to class along with a two pocket, three prong folder. Students should also bring a pen/pencil to class daily. Parents, please ensure your children come to school with the proper materials!
During the first week of class you should expect your child to bring home both a Human, Growth, and Development Consent Form and a Syllabus for you to sign and return to school.
In 6th grade, the students can expect a broad overview of all the basic health topics. All 6th grade students will need a magazine advertisement for either a tobacco or alcohol product. No computer generated advertisements please!
In 7th grade, we will cover health topics more in-depth and a large focus will be on the CPR unit.
In 8th grade, students will thoroughly study tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Dodgen is pleased to offer the "Keeping it Real, Skills for Drug Resistant Strategies" program again. 8th graders will also learn about human, growth, and development in preparation for their journey to high school and beyond.
Cobb County Schools are adopting new textbooks for Middle School Health! If you need access to the textbook, it can be viewed online.
