7th and 8th Grade SPRING CONCERT is MAY 19

The 7th Grade Orchestra and the 8th Grade Orchestra will have their SPRING CONCERT on TUESDAY, MAY 19 at 7:00pm in the Dodgen Theater.  Students should arrive at 6:15pm for tuning/warm-up.  Standard concert attire should be worn(white orchestra shirts/black pants/black socks/black shoes).  

Congratulations 8th Grade Orchestra on a great trip!!!

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Orchestra for their great trip to Walt Disney World this past weekend!!  The students represented Dodgen very well in Florida.  Our Disney music workshop was outstanding, and we had tons of fun at all four theme parks.  

Chamber Orchestra Reminder

Chamber Orchestra will meet this WEDNESDAY, MAY 13 and THURSDAY, MAY 14 in preparation for our performance at Mr.Snell's retirement party on May 20.  Please refer to the blog entry from last week for a detailed information sheet.  That sheet should be printed, and the bottom half returned, immediately.  

7th Grade Orchestra Test this WEDNESDAY, MAY 13

The 7th Grade Orchestra will have a playing test on "Avatar" on Wednesday, May 13.

Summer Camp opportunities

Summer is quickly approaching, and it is a wonderful time to advance your musical skills.  The Atlanta area is full of wonderful orchestra camps.  There are also lots of great private teachers in the area, too.  If your student would like a list of private teachers, please have them ask me for one.  I have lists of teachers available in the orchestra room.

       There are several orchestra camps in the area this summer.  One camp at Emory University is the Encore camp.  Check out their website at www.encoremusiccamps.com for more information.  

       The Georgia chapter of the American Strings Teachers Association has an overnight camp in early June.  Their website address is www.georgiaastacamp.com .

      Also, UGA offers a middle/high school orchestra camp.  You can check out their camp information at www.music.uga.edu/outreach/camps .  

      The Upbeat! String Camp sponsored by Atlanta Violins will be held at DICKERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL this summer, and not Dodgen.  Dodgen will be having all new paint and flooring put in the school, so the Upbeat! camp will be held at Dickerson Middle School.  Also, due to Cobb County Schools policy for the summer that all schools must be closed on Fridays, the camp will be held Monday, July 20 thru THURSDAY, July 23.  It will be only 4 days, and not 5 days.   We will extend the hours of the camp, however, to make up the difference.  The camp will held from 8:30am until 4:00pm on July 20-23.  There will also be a short concert on that Thursday evening at 7pm at Dickerson.  Check out the Upbeat! Congratulations to the 6th Grade Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra for their wonderful Spring Concert last evening.  You should all be very proud of performance. 

7th and 8th Grade Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, May 19

Just a reminder that the 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras' Spring Concert will be on Tuesday, May 19 at 7pm.  Standard concert attire is required(white top/black pants, socks and shoes).

Download Chamber Performance on May 20The Chamber Orchestra will perform for Mr.Snell's retirement party on Wednesday, May 20 from 4:30-6:30pm in the Dodgen Media Center.  An information sheet about this performance is attached.  Please review the information, and return the bottom portion of the form to Mrs.Culley by Wednesday, May 6.
