        This week we will focus on preparation for the CRCT.  More specifically, we will be reviewing literature and grammar vocabulary terms.  You will need notecards (of any size) this week.  Please bring them to class every day.  The list of terms and definitions for the notecards can be downloaded below.  Here's our plan for the week along with important downloadable items:

Mar. 30- Apr. 3 Reading Assignments

          This week we will focus on Lesson #14 vocabulary terms along with our journey with Mr. Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.  Remember to bring your journal, novel, and vocabulary workbook every day.  Also, some students will need to update their reading logs this week.  Don't forget that you will need to have a minimum of 3 books read by the 4 1/2 week point.  Here's our plan for the week:

        We survived last week's Holocaust and our main focus this week will be our partner diaries.  The requirements for the partner diary and other pertinent information is listed below.  Also, if you had to go back to www.plagiarismdetect.com to make your percentage below 25%, it must be resubmitted to me by Monday.

          Whew!  We survived a very busy week in Language Arts.  Thanks for all of your hard work with the research papers and posters.  As a reward there will be no homework this week!  This week will be a huge leap forward to the twentieth century.  Our next literature story deals with the tragic events of the Holocaust.  You will need your literature book on Monday.  This is also the first week of the final nine weeks!  Here's the plan for the week:

Mar. 16-20 Reading Assignments

         It's already the 4th Nine Weeks of Seventh Grade! We will be working on a number of different activties this nine weeks such as The Hobbit novel study, vocabulary, skits, plays, and much more. Students will need to purchase a hard cover composition book for our novel journal. Here are a few notes that are important to know in reading class.

1) Students must always bring their novels (once issued) vocabulary workbooks, and 3 x 5 index cards to class.

2) Please check and sign agenda when students have finished reading a book. Each book should be listed with the number of pages in each students agenda. The number of books read is posted in our class on the "Books Batted In" chart and on the student drive at school.

3) Vocabulary/Spelling tests are usually given every two weeks and will almost always be on Mondays.

4) Fridays are dedicated to silent reading and students must bring their own novel (along with The Hobbit) to class. Here's our schedule for this week:

March 7-11 Language Arts

       This week is a big week for us in Language Arts.  The Renaissance Festival is coming this Friday!Students are in the process of completing their drafts for their research papers and have been given one week to type the research paper according to the format in the research packet.  Please take advantage of the plagiarism checking site listed below to check your paper for plagiarism.  All students will need their LITERATURE BOOKS Tuesday through Thursday.  PLEASE NOTE FRIDAY'S REQUIREMENTS AND RESOURCES BELOW(download below)

Mar. 7-11 Reading Assignment

         This is our final week in reading for this nine week period.  It has gone by quickly!  Students will be going to Ms. Simmons reading class for the final nine weeks.  Seeing that we have a number of large projects going on in other classes (i.e. Renaissance Day, Pi Day, etc), we will be doing a few plays that will involve no homework - just a little acting ability.  The plays that we will perform this week are from Seven Plays of Mystery & Suspense.  Please don't forget to update your reading log with signatures froma parent or teacher.  Here's the plan.

MON.    Continue "Heat Lightning" in class.  HW: none

TUE.     Begin play #2 (this will be a class choice).  HW: none

WED.    Begin play #3 (also a class choice).HW: get reading log signatures.  You will need a total of six books read this nine week period)

Writing the Draft for your Research Paper

Tips: 

1) Look at the sample paper Download Research paper example

2) Put your note cards in order

3) Skip lines when writing your draft IT MUST BE HANDWRITTEN - NOT TYPED

4) Your facts must be paraphrased (put into your own words)

5) Personal Background = 1 to 2 paragraphs

   Accomplishments = 5 to 10 paragraphs (1 per accomplishment) Give  specific details about each accomplishment.

    Impact on Society = 1 to 2 paragraphs
