Feb 4-7 Language Arts Assignments

     The Renaissance is coming!   The culmination of this study is a research paper on a famous figure of the period and a RENAISSANCE FAIR!  More details will be given closer to the due date.  We will take a look at a few famous works from the Renaissance during the next two weeks.  We will begin this week with an overview of the Renaissance Period.   Please check the weblog frequently as some important resources will be coming in the following weeks.

MON.   K-W-L on the Renaissance - Recieve facts/notes on the Renaissance.   Download renaissance_facts.doc   Students are put in groups to study assigned topics from the Renaissance notes.  HW: Find additional information about your group's topic.

TUES.  Groups will teach the class about their assigned topic from Monday's Renaissance notes.  Students will fill in information they have learned on the L column of the K-W-L HW: Take a look through the "Explore the Renaissance" Presentation and look fore 3 possible figures to research in the coming weeks.

      This week we will be reviewing and preparing for our comprehensive complements test.  We will have activities that focus on direct and indirect objects along with predicate nominatives and adjectives.  Please take advantage of the resources available on this weblog if you need extra help.  We will have a study session on Wednesday morning and afternoon.  Here's the schedule:

Jan 22-25 Language Arts Assignments

     This week's assignments will be a continuation of our study of grammar.  Last week week worked on direct objects (DO) and indirect objects (IO).  This week we will be focusing on predicate nouns (PN) and predicate adjectives (PA).  We will have a quiz on Friday that will cover PN and PA. Please note that there are review presentations and resources available for download or found in the resources section (on left of page).

Mon.  No school - Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Tues.  Review DO and IO.  Introduce predicate nouns and predicate adjectives. Notes on PNs and PAs are listed below.  HW: Write five original sentences using the following patterns:  1) S-AV-DO  2) S-AV-DO-DO  3) S-AV-IO-DO  4) S-LV-PN  5) S-LV-PA

          Last week we completed our study of the Lesson #8 Vocabulary and began our journey through the lands of The Hobbit.  This week we will continue to focus on our novel study, "The Hobbit".  Be sure to bring your book every day.  Your Books Batted In total should be at or above 15 total books for the year.

Jan 14-18 Language Arts Assignments

      We have completed our brief study of expository writing.  Students turned in their "How To" pieces on Friday.   The main focus this week will be direct and indirect objects.  Students having difficulty are welcome to check out some of the resources listed on the resource link to the left.  A quiz will be given on Friday.  The following is an overview of this week's assignments:
