Language Arts Pod 7-3

       I hope his weblog will be a helpful tool for your seventh grader.  Although this site is currently Writinghand2_1 under construction, there are other ways to access information/assignments regarding Language Arts in Pod 7-3.  As always, assignments are posted weekly in the classroom.  Students are required to record all assignments for the week (classwork and homework) on Monday.  If your child is absent or failed to copy assignments into his/her agenda for the week, you can  view assignments on this blog, or for more specifics, contact me via e-mail at:

May 18-22 Language Arts Assignments

    It's our last week of school!  This week we will continue our poetry project in the computer lab.  Students have been provided three days to compose poetry and then three more days in the lab to publish.  Our last couple of days will be reserved for presentations.  Please make sure that you have submitted your poetry by the end of class Tuesday in order to receive full credit.  Projects are to be saved on the U drive in my folder entitled "POETRY".  Here's the schedule:

May 11-15 Language Arts Assignments

         We are just ten days away from finishing another school year!  Our focus over the final two weeks will be poetry.  For those of you who cringe when you hear this word, don’t fret.  It will be fun and interesting.  You may even learn some things about your peers that you never knew before!  The title of our poetry unit is “The World of Poetry” and it takes us around the world to experience various forms of poetry.  The resources below are crucial to your success with this project.  If you take advantage of your time in class, you should not have any more homework this year.  Here’s our schedule and important dates:

     We've almost reached the end of our novel and the end of the school year!  This week we will complete The Hobbit and take our final test over the book.  We will also be completing our last vocabulary test for the year.  Be sure to bring your Hobbit book to class.  It will be returned on Wednesday.  Here's our plan for the week:

May 4-8 Language Arts Assignments

         This week will be dedicated to creating a small piece of technical writing.  We will begin the week with an overview of our own employability.  Then we will be drafting and creating resumes that we would use for employment.  The only catch is... we will be doing this as if we Greek gods or goddesses!  We are fortunate enough to have a special, day-long presentation regarding drug and alcohol awareness and prevention at the end of the week.  Here's our schedule:

Apr. 27- May 1 Language Arts Assignments

         We are continuing our study of Greek mythology.  Last week we began Greek mythology with the myth, "Phaethon, Son of Apollo" and "Hercules".  We will continue this week with a few more classic Greek myths.  You will need your Literature book on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Also, don't forget to wear your Olympic shirt Friday!  Here's the schedule:
