8th Grade Science:
Tomorrow we will be starting our balloon car activity here are the requirements:
BALLOON CAR RACE
The balloon car race project is designed for students to use the information they learned (simple machines, Newton's three laws, speed acceleration, friction, ect.) to design a balloon powered car.
- The Balloon is a 9 inch balloon.
- Students will blow up the balloon to a maximum size (there will be a quage that the balloon will fit into) and placeit on the car.
- The car will be placed on the starting line and the balloon is released.
Students will have 3 tries will be used for the final distance.
The average of the 3 tries will be used for the final distance.
The furthest average distance will get the highest grade (100), the next longest distance gets a 99, and the grade goes down by on point for each shorter distance.
- The car cannot be a pre-made car like a hotwheels, or RC (remote controled) car. It must be made from scratch using materials from home or in the classroom and cannot use any other form of propulsion other than the balloon.
