LANGUAGE ARTS: Today we watched a Movie Monday to review figurative language, and I briefly explained how to do internal citation. You then had almost the entire class period to read through and highlight your articles for important information. You can begin filling out your chart tomorrow if you are ready. NO HOMEWORK!
LITERACY: Today you had the opportunity to share your first Tangerine journal, and we continued reading together. NO HOMEWORK!
LANGUAGE ARTS: Today we completed the Thursday Thunder warm-up for this week, and I gave you a preview of the research chart, rubric, and expectations for next week. You had the rest of class to read through and highlight your articles for important information. Make sure you refer to your key question on SIRS about your topic and keep all your articles together in the folder I provided you! You will continue highlighting on Monday. HOMEWORK is to make sure you have at least 5 articles on Monday!
LITERACY: Today you had silent reading time. NO HOMEWORK!
LANGUAGE ARTS: Today we went to the computer lab so that you could find and print articles for your research topic. Sorry for any technical difficulties you experienced while trying to print. Hi everyone! I have missed you all the past two days. Both Brooklyn and I have been home sick :(
LANGUAGE ARTS: Yesterday you finished reading "Lob's Girl" and wrote your reaction to the story. You also practiced highlighting some research articles. Today you jammed out with Tuesday Tunes and went to the computer lab to complete the health survey and browse SIRS for your research topic. You selected 3 topics that you would be okay with -- you will find out which topic you have when I return to school (hopefully tomorrow!). NO HW!

LANGUAGE ARTS: Today you completed a Thursday Thunder warm-up about transitive and intransitive verbs. Afterwards, I showed you how to find research topics on SIRS using the "Visual Browse" feature. For the rest of class, we read a short story called "Lob's Girl," which we'll finish on Monday. HOMEWORK is to browse through the research topics on SIRS (go to Cobb Virtual Library first) so that you have an idea what you want to research next week!

LANGUAGE ARTS: Following Tuesday Tunes, we began our new unit: research! After discussing plagiarism through a questionnaire and online tutorial, we viewed a BrainPOP video about paraphrasing -- an important research skill. For the rest of class, you practiced paraphrasing. NO HOMEWORK!
LITERACY: Today you finished working on your vocabulary word maps -- they are due tomorrow! HOMEWORK is to study for your vocabulary unit 2 test tomorrow!
LANGUAGE ARTS: Today you wrote a response to "The All-American Slurp," and you then had most of class to work on your Top 10 List. HOMEWORK is to finish the final copy of your Top 10 List -- make sure you follow the rubric and staple it to your final copy!
LITERACY: Today you turned in pages 14-15, the survey, and syllabus. You then had the entire class period to read a book towards your 25-book goal for the year. NO HOMEWORK but you have a vocabulary unit 2 test on Wednesday!
