You may take up to 2 different quizzes on the USA Testprep site to have added to your grade.  THIS is not mandatory.  It is just an opportunity to help sagging grades.  I would like for you to take 1Information and Literacy- 20 question section quizzes and 1 literary comprehension- 20 question section quizzes.  I will average these two grades together to count as a QUIZ grade.  YOU MUST HAVE THEM COMPLETED BY MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2009.

Week of April 13th

Home work: Please study for the vocabulary test on Wednesday, April 15th

Tuesday: Please bring a novel to read in class

Wednesday: Vocabulary 9 and 10 test; also included on the test will be clauses (adj.,adv.noun), gerund and participial phrases, and poetic devices.  **Please review clause ppt from a recent posting on my blog.

Thursday: Reading log check--all reading logs need to be signed by parent or guardian.  To date, you should have read 3350 pages or 500 more pages since the last 4 week check.

Friday: All students are to bring in their copy of To Kill a Mockingbird; we will be doing an activity from the book.  Student will be required to begin reading the book next week.

All students: This week, we will be wrapping up our poetry review.  We will also be taking a CRCT practice test in the computer lab on Wednesday.  We WILL be having a pop quiz on Thursday.  The quiz will cover adjective, adverb, and noun clauses.  Below is the power point which explains these clauses.  I have also attached the team challenge we completed in class.  Please look over these definitions and examples.  Also remember the following: When we return from spring break, you will be tested over clauses, vocabulary 9 and 10, and poetic devices.  If you are having any trouble with clauses, please come by any morning for extra help.

Week of March 23rd

All students review poetry packet handed out on Monday.  Please be familiar with poetic devices and be able to identify in a given poem.  We will be having a test on Diary of Anne Frank this Friday.  Mae sure you have read the play from the Literature book.  We will be having CRCT class challenge this week--GAME ON!!  Winning class receives pop corn-coke party!!!
